"Café Arabica" Out Today on Putumayo Discovery!
An evocative musical journey from the Atlas Mountains to the Red Sea
Traveling at an unhurried pace from the Atlas Mountains to the Red Sea, Putumayo Discovery's newest digital album, Café Arabica, out today, introduces a collection of modern artists from North Africa & the Middle East.
The ten featured artists come from culturally distinct regions, each with its own language, tradition, and history, yet the music shares striking common ground: relaxed arrangements that reward close listening. Some lean into contemporary production, electronic textures, pop, and genre-blending collaboration, while others echo to older acoustic and vocal traditions, but all of them are shaping the sound of a region very much living in the present.
Café Arabica is available for download on our website, iTunes, Qobuz, & Bandcamp with streaming on Apple, Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, Pandora and other major platforms.

New Putumayo Discovery Single: "Latido Ancestral" by Em9,
El Hijo de Búho and Chill&Go
"Latido Ancestral" is a collaboration between three artists - Em9 from Spain, El Hijo de Búho from Colombia and Chill&Go from Mexico - who connected after being featured on a Putumayo compilation together.
Sung in Spanish, the lyrics paint a tender, nature-rooted portrait of love and longing: starlight, an echoed voice, the warmth of an embrace, using the image of a tree's roots and branches stretching toward river and sea to evoke a deep, ancestral bond that pulses like a heartbeat.
The track weaves Afro-Colombian rhythms, flute, and champeta guitar lines through a mystical, laid-back electronic groove. Organic percussion meets downtempo production for a sound that feels both ancestral and current, with nylon guitar textures and warm, hypnotic bass underscoring El Hijo de Búho's vocals.
Listen to "Latido Ancestral" on Spotify, Apple, Deezer, YouTube, Pandora and other major streaming platforms.

Musician Spotlight
Rasha Nahas (Palestine)
Featured on Café Arabica
Rasha Nahas is a Palestinian musician, songwriter, and actress working across music, film, and theatre. Born in Haifa and now based between Berlin and New York, she began playing classical guitar at ten and was writing and performing her own songs within Haifa’s underground scene by her teens. Her work moves between poetry, rock, punk, ballads, and Arabic singer-songwriter traditions, placing the guitar and the word at its center. Following her albums Desert (2021) and Amrat (2023), she is preparing a new album produced with Meshell Ndegeocello and recorded in New York. She has performed across five continents, from Glastonbury Festival to the Arctic Circle, and also composes for film and theatre.
“Ya Binti” (My Girl) is a tender, reflective song addressed to a girl watching time and distance grow between her & someone she loves, recorded at 67 Recording Studio in Majdal Shams, a town in the Golan Heights, with bass by Raymond Haddad & percussion by Rami Nakhlee. “There’s a tear in your eye my girl / A red cherry / Hair turned gray / And years passed / I am here / And you are there / You are you / But who am I.”

Unfortunately, Putumayo has stopped producing CDs. I have a lot of Putumayo CDs but I don't stream or download anything. Please discontinue sending me notices for your new albums but if you ever decide to produce CDs again please let me know.
Thanks for letting us know your feedback. We have heard from some longtime Putumayo fans that they wish we were still making physical CDs. As you know, the market for physical CDs has declined greatly since the glory days of the CD era, and we found it more and more difficult to justify the expense, logistics, distribution challenges and time that goes into making physical CDs. We decided to focus on digital music not out of desire but in order to keep our business viable in the era of streaming and downloads. That said, we do have plans to start making small pressings of physical CDs that we sell directly to fans and subscribers. We hope to start that process in the beginning of 2027, so please don't give up on us yet!
If that is the case I have no problem purchasing CDs directly from Putumayo. Please keep me on your email list and I look forward to buying them from you. I already have a number of CDs that you show on this email promotion.
