Meet Yoro Ndiaye
Senegalese singer-songwriter Yoro Ndiaye was featured on Putumayo’s African Café album in 2018.

Growing up in Mbacké, Senegal, Yoro built his own guitars in his father’s workshop. His musical journey took off when Youssou N’Dour invited him to perform as an opening act in 2003. He later found success with his group Le Yoon Wi and the hit song “Xarit,” developing a distinctive sound blending acoustic folk with Senegal’s vibrant mbalax rhythms. His latest album, Yaay Kann, was released in 2024.

Live from Dakar
Jacob Edgar will join Yoro in person at Loman Art House, a gallery, café and creative hub in Dakar. Together, they’ll explore Yoro’s life and musical inspirations, share stories about Senegal’s music scene and enjoy live performances. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and connect with the artists and the Putumayo team.

The one-hour event will be in English and French, with Jacob providing live translation.

Discover new music. Meet the artists. Join the conversation.
